"The Americans were informed before the attack and supported it,” Gideon Sa’ar said of the airstrikes against Hamas. “Because justice is on our side.”

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said on Tuesday that Israel’s military campaign in the Gaza Strip will continue at least “for the coming days” after the end of the ceasefire with Hamas.

Speaking at a meeting in Jerusalem with AIPAC’s board of directors, Sa’ar described how Hamas rejected two U.S.-mediated proposals, which would have extended the ceasefire in exchange for the release of hostages, leading to the renewed airstrikes.

“We found ourselves at an impasse—no hostage being released and no military action,” Sa’ar said. “This situation could not continue.”

“This is not a one-day attack,” he added. “We will continue the military operation in the coming days.”

Sa’ar also provided additional context about how the airstrikes were carried out in coordination with Washington.

“At 2:00 a.m., we began the strike in Gaza,” he said. “The initial decision was made several days ago. The prime minister and the minister of defense were authorized to determine the timing.”

“The Americans were informed before the attack and supported it,” he added. “Because justice is on our side.”
