Backend Engineer (1-2 years experience)

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer who gets excited by solving complex problems and enjoys the challenge of building systems that are critical for our customers and are used to generate millions of dollars. Nah, make that billion. Our systems manage over two billion pricing points (in other words, Excel doesn’t really cut it), hundreds of thousands of quotes, and millions of location codes.

Responsibilities:

• Build an end to end software development features and contribute to many others, using best practices, clean coding and appropriate automated tests.
• Playing a productive role in contributing throughout the development and deployment cycle across the R&D organization.
• With over a million lines of code, ship happens. You’ll troubleshoot and solve complex problems and introduce mechanisms, new designs, and best practices to prevent the recurrence of the problem.

Basic Qualifications:

• B.Sc in Computer Science or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience in object-oriented programming and design skills, preferably in Java
• Team player with a can-do attitude
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Database: SQL and/or NoSQL
• Familiarity with cloud computing & microservices architecture
• Solid knowledge of Linux, networking, and bash scripting
