Memoirs (and other narrative nonfiction) are based on true events.
But is it possible, or even the goal, to tell “the whole truth” when writing memoir?
In this class, we’ll discuss:
-What “truth” means in creative nonfiction
-Factual truth: what affects the factuality of your memoirs, and writing tips for how to ensure your story stays rooted in fact
-Emotional truth: exploring taboo, dark, and personal experiences, and literary methods to handle, share or work around intimate moments
