The role
This position, located at the ATDO in West Jerusalem, is a business development role in the Austrade
Israel team which promotes, attracted and facilitates productive foreign direct investment (FDI) to
Australia.
Specific priority sectors to be covered by this role will be aligned to Australian federal government
priorities and may vary from time to time based on operational needs. Currently ALL priority sectors
include Advanced Manufacturing and Space, Agri-food, Circular Economy, Defence, Digital
Technologies, Energy, Health Industries, Infrastructure and Tourism, Resources.

The position requires a highly motivated team member fluent in English and Hebrew with experience
in business development, preferably in an international environment.
You will identify and assist Israeli companies to invest in the Australian market and help them develop
entry strategies. This role will require you to understand the market opportunities in the Australian
priority sectors and articulate Australia’s advantage as an attractive investment destination for
investment and convince firms based in Israel to establish and/or expand business operations in
Australia. You will develop relationships with stakeholders in the Australian ecosystem and provide
Israeli companies with tailored advice, insights and assistance to invest in Australia.
The geographic coverage of this role is Israel. The role is based in West Jerusalem, with flexibility for
remote working.
This role will require travel within Israel.
Duties include:
• Support your Post Manager, Trade & Investment Commissioner and General Manager Europe to
deliver Austrade’s objectives in Israel. This includes working collaboratively across Austrade’s global
network and Embassy colleagues to identify market and industry trends and emerging/potential
opportunities, and develop market and sector strategies.
• Proactively identify, target and work closely with potential corporate investors in Israel to secure
new foreign direct investment for Australia. This will involve the proactive identification of potential
investors based on Australian opportunities, research and presentation of tailored information on
industry capability and articulating the commercial benefits of investing in Australia;
• Represent Austrade by delivering compelling presentations at business events and in CEO level
meetings to promote the advantages of Australia as a location for investment and trade partner;
• Apply strategic thought to identify and report issues or barriers to investment to the Australian
government and to propose innovative solutions which will increase results;
• Develop, maintain and support extensive networks of senior level business, industry networks and
external and internal stakeholders in Israel and Australia. This will include other Australian
government agencies and State government offices, as well as key government officials, regulatory
bodies and allies such as industry associations, regional development groups and professional
service providers;
• Support the Australian federal government strategy for priority sectors through social media;
• Work as part of an Austrade team and maintain Austrade standards and policies, including diversity
in the workplace, ethical practice and occupational health and safety principles and compliance with
audit requirements;
• Plan, coordinate and implement physical and virtual events, market visits and Israeli delegations
visiting Australia, where appropriate in collaboration with State/Territory Governments, industry
associations and allies in Australia;
• Contribute to business planning, strategy development and marketing initiatives within the
Austrade Israel team;

• Efficiently manage a constantly changing workload covering diverse industry sectors, large numbers
of clients/customers, within internally and externally driven timeframes;
• Actively apply Austrade business practices and maintain accuracy of information in all Austrade
Business Systems to deliver accurate and timely reporting and effective relationship management;
• Contribute to knowledge creation within Austrade, by adopting information practices, sharing
knowledge and information and by embracing best practice and development opportunities;
• Work collaboratively within the Austrade network to contribute to service delivery and achieve
desired outcomes, while upholding the Australian Public Service (APS) Values, Employment
Principles and Code of Conduct and Work Health & Safety (WHS) principles;
Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration and appointment you must have:
• Qualification – Relevant tertiary education
• Experience – 5+ years of business or government experience in a relevant role
• Work Authorisation - to be eligible for employment with Austrade in Israel, candidates must be
legally authorised to live and work in Israel at the time of appointment.
• Language - the successful candidate must be a highly motivated team member, fluent in written
and spoken English and Hebrew.
• Security Clearance - the successful applicant must be willing to complete an Entry Level Screening
Pack and be confirmed as a suitable person to access Government resources prior to commencement
in the role.

What you’ll need to be successful
There are the particular aspects we will consider when looking for successful candidate for this role,
namely:
• Minimum Bachelor Level relevant tertiary qualification (for example but not limited to
International Business/Economics/Marketing or Industry-related disciplines).

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an investment attraction, business development or a similar
role.
• Industry knowledge in one or more of Austrade’s priority sectors: Advanced Manufacturing
and Space, Agri-food, Circular Economy, Defence, Digitech, Energy, Health Industries,
Infrastructure and Tourism, Resources.
• Excellent understanding of the benefits of FDI, how corporate investment decisions are made
and the capacity to understand and convincingly promote Australia’s competitive advantage,
government policy and business support programs.
• Excellent understanding of the Israeli and Australian markets and ability to identify
opportunities for Israel foreign direct investment in the Australian priority sectors.
• Excellent research skills (with the ability to assimilate various sources of information into
coherent and well-referenced written insights) and excellent organizational skills (including to
deliver programs for largescale trade missions and business networking events) as well as
good attention to detail.
• Excellent client relationship management skills encompassing client identification, relationship
building and solution selling as well as proven ability to identify and utilise a senior business
network to help achieve results preferably in an international context.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills in both English and Hebrew, with the
ability to successfully represent Australia, and the ability to negotiate and communicate with
stakeholders.
• Experience in business planning and successful execution of business plans within a team
environment to deliver on KPIs.
• Experience in working within both global and virtual team environments to deliver high quality
trade and investment outcomes.
• Strategic and analytical skills and proven problem solving abilities with the ability to clearly
articulate insights on business opportunities and market trends.
• Well-developed time management skills and proven experience of working independently and
in a team. Awareness of the digital environment and how to engage with clients in a digital
first manner.
• Confidently use digital workplace tools to solve problems, be productive, connect and
collaborate with others.
