WBAIS and Israel:

Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 1958, The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS) is a MSA accredited, fully independent, co-educational Pre-K - 12 international school, which offers a robust program leading to a US high school diploma.

With a present enrollment of approximately 600 students representing over 40 nationalities, AIS Israel is a diverse and vibrant community. Approximately 30% of AIS students are American, 40% from countries all over the world, and 30% Israelis.

In 2008 WBAIS moved to its current 19-acre campus that opened in 2007 and is located in the town of Even Yehuda, a residential community approximately 20 kilometers north of Tel Aviv. The purpose-built campus includes four separate divisions, a performing arts building with a 400-seat auditorium, full gym, cafeteria, library and media center, athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, and an olympic-sized pool.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel seeks an experienced, student-centered, and dynamic Middle School/Elementary School Spanish Substitute Teacher. Our school vision - nurturing a diverse learning community of reflective learners who are growing as compassionate and responsible citizens - requires teachers committed to a strong understanding of progressive teaching and learning. Our teachers deliver high quality instruction that celebrates critical thinking, analysis, and skill development with a focus on effective written and spoken communication. We are seeking an individual who embraces best pedagogical practices and also actively contributes to the life and culture of the school.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instruct Elementary and Middle School Spanish and Curriculum and Culture
  • Evaluate and mentor students
  • Collaborate with students, teachers and parents
  • Maintain a successful classroom learning environment
  • Plan and supervise extra-curricular activities
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred)
  • Current and valid teaching license
  • Minimum three years teaching experience in a similar role


Position Expectations: To excel in this position, an individual must successfully perform each essential responsibility, in addition to the following:

  • Classroom technology – be familiar with educational technology such as GSuite and online learning management systems.
  • Classroom facilitation – effectively orchestrate a class with high learning impact, by incorporating best practices into the classroom.
  • Curriculum development – contribute to the development and documenting of curricular documents (unit plans, assessments, standards documentation, etc.).
  • Communication skills – proactively communicate to integrate all community stakeholders into the learning process.

Priority will be given to candidates who have experience:

  • Serving as an advisor/pastoral care role
  • Ability to contribute to the larger school community through extra curricular activities and or sports.
  • Working with students with varying levels of Spanish language fluency
  • Collaborating in a co-teaching model
  • Facilitating individualized and differentiated learning experiences
