More than 500,000 Ukrainians have tested positive for the coronavirus, including the country’s finance minister and health minister.
Days after announcing to the world that he tested positive for COVID-19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was reportedly hospitalized for care.
According to Reuters, Zelensky made the decision to enter the hospital to better isolate himself and not risk exposing anyone to the virus. Zelensky and his wife, Olena Volodymyrivna Zelenska, have two children.
In announcing that he had the coronavirus on Nov. 9, the Jewish lawmaker said, “There are no lucky people for whom COVID-19 does not pose a threat. Despite all the quarantine measures, I received a positive test. I feel good and take a lot of vitamins. Promise to isolate myself, but keep working. I will overcome COVID-19 as most people do. It’s gonna be fine!”
More than 500,000 Ukrainians have tested positive for the coronavirus, including the country’s finance minister and health minister, with the disease claiming nearly 9,200 lives as of Nov. 12.
Since he began quarantining, Zelensky has called for the creation of a “Healthy Nation” program to strengthen citizens’ immune systems to better fight the virus.
