Description: Managing our libraries includes managing a team of employees, and responsibility for the library’s activities in all its aspects, including work processes, procurement, registration, cataloging, and accessibility. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for internal and external organizational interfaces in the areas of the library and professional guidance of the librarians who provide service in the information and advisory services department. The position includes performing additional tasks according to the needs of the unit.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage the library staff.
- Determine professional work procedures and processes and monitor their implementation; set work goals and control their quality and implementation.
- Lead the activities of the library in collaboration with the information technology department and formulate a work theory adapted to a changing technological environment.
- Represent the library in various forums.
- Determine the purchasing policy and develop the collection.
- Prepare an annual work plan derived from the annual budget and implement the work plan according to an approved budget.
- Initiate and lead unique projects.
- Provide professional guidance and build a plan for the storage team to manage the warehouse and inventory.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- Education or training relevant to the position is an advantage.
- Knowledge of the Hebrew language in its entirety (speech and phrasing).
- English at a good level.
- Mastery of additional European languages is an advantage.
- Management experience of at least three years.
- Experience in building projects, executing them, and leading them.
- Proven experience in leading a team.
- Full control of OFICE programming.
- Familiarity with the ‘Sapir’ system is an advantage.
- Familiarity with librarianship and informatics, archiving, and collection management is an advantage.
- Ability to analyze and think integratively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
- High organizational ability, responsibility and commitment, personal initiative, and creative thinking.
