Job Description:
The Catalog and Accessibility Department is responsible for managing the document database in our archives and for all operations of cataloging documents entering the archive in order to make the documentation accessible to the general public. This includes accessibility for those in the reading room and, if possible, also on the Internet.
The data conversion section is responsible for massively accessing corpora of documentation received in the archive, by automated means, and assimilating this information into the system while extracting as much information as possible. The section is also responsible for adding tens of thousands of new records to our database by computerized means.
The position includes professional and personal management of the section team, making the data accessible in the system for the use of the organization’s users and end users, and working together with the information technology department. Leading the team to quality products, while meeting the defined schedules and outputs. The position includes performing additional tasks according to the needs of the unit.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Research the source data (data analytics), computerized data mapping, and the characterization of the logic required to perform data conversion into the system.
- Leading the assimilation of the conversion data into the system:
- Writing the conversion processes, and accompanying the process with the team in the information technology department.
- Data remediation, and management quality control, and the concentration of work in front of the information technology department.
- Guiding the team in assimilating data, including updating data in the conversion.
- Managing the work with the archival procurement department to define standards for receiving procurement materials.
- Responsibility for connectivity between the databases in implementing data conversion into the system.
- Managing the section’s staff and defining sectional and personal work plans.
- Overall responsibility for characterizing the data conversion processes, writing procedures, and defining standards for conversion.
- Overall responsibility for quality control for the conversion processes.
- Partnership in locating and implementing technological solutions to expand the accessibility of the material.
- Initiation and development of new work tools and use of existing technologies, for application in the field of data transformations.
- Management of the field of quality control of the performance of the tasks and compliance with professional standards in the field of data recovery.
- Producing reports for the needs of the department.
- Concentration and construction of the section’s work plans.
- The concentration of the multifaceted work with departments and departments at our company.
- Participation in professional conferences and presenting presentations.
- Conducting training on the work of the department and the division.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: information systems, systems analysis, knowledge management (BI), informatics, linguistics, or computational linguistics.
- Very good Hebrew and English is mandatory.
- Knowledge of a European language is an advantage.
- Control of technologies/applications:
- Knowledge of SQL and DDL.
- Background in VBA.
- Significant experience working with databases.
- Experience with the Business Objects platform.
- Control of MS Office applications.
- Full control of Access and Excel, including advanced functions and macros.
- Work experience in a relevant position (work experience in computerized catalog systems and data recovery, etc.)
- Experience in leading a team is a significant advantage.
