I am a clinical psychologist, treating the adult population. Originally from the States I made Aliyah to Israel over decade ago, having grown up in Greater Boston area.
In terms of my own approach to psychology, I tend to understand the patient by analyzing how they are in relation to others and in relation to themselves. Furthermore, I view the human condition, society, and culture as important frameworks which have an impact on the values and pressures of people and which also impact their relationships.
The therapeutic process works to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards themselves, others, and their life situation. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and therapist alike.
The clientele I work can experience a wide range of difficulties. Ranging from problems with self esteem, anger and aggression, sadness, worry, fear, problems in relationships, work, loneliness, desperation, anxiety, a sense of being lost or directionless, a sense of being emotionally cut off or stunted, or being emotionally volatile. However that being said, this is a simple list and a your unique situation is likely more complex and therefore an initial interview and consultation is often required.
