My name is Laurie Duitch and I am a Clinical Dietitian, Certified Intuitive Eating counselor, Mindfulness and Mindful Eating Instructor and Body Image coach.
My Mindfulness Based Intuitive Eating program is a 13 session course that is designed to help you develop a trusting, kind and caring relationship with your body, and the foods that both nourish and nurture it.
In this program mindfulness practices are introduced in order to encourage you to cultivate a non-judgmental awareness of your internal and external experience, facilitate your ability to best meet your physical and emotional needs (Intuitive Eating) and grow your ability to appreciate, respect and take care of your body (Body Image Resilience).
Intuitive Eating is not a diet. Diets don’t work long term for the vast majority of people and have many negative short and long term consequences, including disordered eating, weight cycling and weight gain (aka yoyo dieting), anxiety, depression and a general inability to connect and respond to body cues.Intuitive Eating is a ‘self care eating’ framework.
The principles of Intuitive Eating are not diet rules; rather they are guidelines for how to move away from the culture of dieting, towards a life where you are able to listen and respond to your needs for both nourishment and nurturance. Intuitive Eating can be life changing because it teaches you how to connect with, and respond to, the physical and emotional states of your body.
In spite of fears to the contrary, intuitive eaters consume a wide variety of foods, have overall improved health markers, experience increased satisfaction from eating, and have a lower risk of developing eating disorders.
Mindfulness practices support you as you give up the diet mentality and experiment with the principles of Intuitive Eating. The regular practice of mindful eating, which taps into the ancient wisdom of mindfulness, is the key to establishing a healthier and more joyful relationship with food. Other mindfulness practices such as meditations that increase your ability to tune into your body’s internal wisdom, and compassion practices, are integral parts of the program as they are powerful and effective tools for accessing body wisdom, increasing the enjoyment around food and eating, improving body image, coping with emotions and reducing stress.
The program includes 13 weekly, 90 minutes live sessions on Zoom.
