The Claims Conference is seeking a professional with experience in evaluation and assessment who will work with Staff, Grantees, and outside evaluators, with the goal of measuring the impact of educational programs and projects. This professional should be a reflective practitioner with expertise in helping organizations to define aims, articulate the vision of success, and how to measure it.
Headquartered in New York, the Claims Conference is a global, non-profit organization committed to providing a small measure of justice to Holocaust Survivors. Since our founding in 1951, the Claims Conference has secured more than $90 billion from the German government in indemnification for Survivors. In 2021, the Claims Conference will distribute approximately $625 million in direct compensation to over 260,000 survivors in 83 countries and will allocate approximately $640 million in grants to over 300 social service agencies worldwide that provide vital services for Holocaust survivors, such as home care, food, and medicine. Our Research, Education, and Documentation (RED) funds contribute toward global efforts to educate the public and preserve the memory of the Holocaust through teacher training programs, exhibitions, and films such as Son of Saul, an Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film. Responsibilities:
- The goal is to build the capacity of our staff to assist Grantees, and to build the capacity of the Grantee agencies.
- In providing strategic funding support, we aim to build the capacity of Grantees to conduct meaningful evaluations of their educational programs. This includes webinars, one on one coaching, mentoring, and consultations that help grantees a) build internal assessment capacity; b) articulate measurable goals; c) develop methods of assessment and measurement to achieve success.
- The RED Evaluation Officer will have the relevant experience to work with select grantees to formulate and assess measurable objectives.
- The Evaluation Officer will work with program staff as part of the RED team.
- The Evaluation Officer will work with program staff to build their expertise on evaluation.
- This person will collaborate with the staff in crafting RFPs, determining who will receive the RFPs, helping to evaluate proposals, reviewing findings and developing next steps.
- Conduct briefings, including advising stakeholders about effective ways to align decision making based on findings and results.
- Consult with experts in relevant fields, as necessary.

- Demonstrated expertise in impact evaluation
- Project management skills, including ability to drive efforts independently, and ensure effective implementation
- Ability to work with and coordinate efforts across multiple stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
- Ability to communicate complex analysis results simply and concisely, using non-technical language and clear visualizations
- Creativity and flexibility
Requirements
- Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data, using academic research and survey methods
- Experience as a trainer or coach in an educational context
- Strong interpersonal skills, enjoys working collaboratively
- 5+ years’ work experience
- Written and spoken fluency in English
