The Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for reviewing assigned physician orders, investigating benefit information, determining if an authorization is required, and obtaining authorization as needed from insurance companies in a compliant, timely manner.
Skills needed:
- Maintain complete documentation for all cases being worked
- Clearly communicate in a courteous, professional manner with patients, physicians and medical staff regarding status of all cases.
- Provide detailed, accurate and current clinical information to insurance representatives.
- Develops effective relationships with insurance company representatives.
- Strong ability to multi-task with great attention to detail
- Compassionate, caring demeanor with excellent customer service skills
Experience Needed.
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience including Insurance and/or pre-certification or in a relevant role such as front desk or billing.
- Strong computer skills: ability to work in various portals, EMR, etc.
- Experience in DME preferred
