Job summary
Company is looking for a General Manager to lead our Containers Business. Containers are redefining how developers and DevOps are building, deploying, and running their applications. We are building the future of infrastructure and cluster management for containers while delivering a unique “Serverless Containers” engine that lets developers deploy containers without managing infrastructure.
Key job responsibilities
As GM, you will be responsible for product, engineering and business results for Containers and Infrastructure Optimization. You will apply high standards to lead the development of purpose-built, large scale systems. You will think strategically, innovating on behalf of customers while also remaining deeply connected to execution. You will lead geographically-distributed teams to build and operate the next generation automated containers optimization features that bring a serverless experience to our customers.
As GM, you will own the product roadmap, engineering development, and operations. As the owners of technology that is shared across our products, the team you lead will help our customers build applications that use multiple offerings and help influence new products and innovations. To this end, you will work closely with senior leaders to simplify and improve the way our customers use and deploy containers at scale.
You will be responsible for customer, partner and vendor relationships to identify the viability and profitability of future work , work closely with Engineering on implementation or integration. You will help set the strategy, plan product expansion, and together with Engineering and Operations leadership, drive the execution of the business.
You will
• Hire, retain, and grow top management and engineering talent within your group
• Be a clear technical voice, working in partnership with your teams to deliver an architecture which will scale with the needs of the AWS business.
• Quickly and reliably deliver high quality technical solutions that will delight our customers.
• Work on business strategy to define a product roadmap that’s compelling and focused on growth, while collaborating with product management teams across the AWS business.
• Meet with customers to learn and help them shape their own tooling story on AWS.
• Clearly communicate level risks, successes, and missteps as you define and execute on a vision for the product.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years of experience driving long term engineering and product decisions
• Track record of delivering innovative cloud-based applications
• Proven ability to hire & develop an inclusive organization
• Experience scaling diverse, highly dynamic and fast growing technical and product teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with Cloud Container services including AKS, GKE, EKS and Amazon ECS
• Experience in designing and building sophisticated, fault-tolerant, distributed systems with systems-level performance constraints.
• Experience driving complex, cross-organizational projects
• Experiencing building distributed applications whose components that interact through publish/subscribe or other event-based messaging models
• Ability to write high-quality, data-driven narratives which are driven from customer and business needs and provide visibility into technical direction, success criteria, and incremental steps to achieve success.
