Thoughts on Cast a Giant Shadow

One of the courses offered aaafternoon Hebrew School in Central NJ was Great Jewish Films, and one of the many films shown to the students was Cast a Giant Shadow, the story of David Daniel "Mickey" Marcus, a US army man born on the Lower East Side of NYC, who was recruited by Ben Gurion and fought in the Independence War in 1948.

The instructor one year, in the early 1990s, for the film course was photographer and filmmaker Judah S. Harris.

Read some of his brief thoughts on the story told in Cast a Giant Shadowand see some relevant existing historical photographs that he shares, along with a mention of the popular actor who played Mickey Marcus in the Hollywood film.
