The Development and Public Affairs Division of Tel Aviv University is seeking an outstanding news and popular science writer to report on the campus’s many discoveries and happenings to its stakeholders abroad.
This is a flexible position – full time in-house or part-time freelance.
Job description:
The Strategic Communications team is looking for an experienced journalist & PR writer to:
- Seek out compelling new stories on campus
- Write engaging English-language press releases that resonate with US media, including adapting translations of Hebrew press releases to the American market
- Write features about TAU life that support strategic fundraising initiatives
- Produce info sheets or summaries for use when pitching
- Work closely with TAU Spokesperson's Office and the Strategic Communications unit to ensure English language releases are timely, relevant and aligned with University messaging.
Requirements:
- Only native English speakers will be considered
- Hebrew proficiency a must
- Background in journalism & content writing – both print and digital
- Demonstrated excellence in writing news press releases, features and pitches
- Experience and proficiency in finding compelling news stories and translating complex academic & scientific concepts into accessible prose
- In-depth understanding of US media and target audiences
- Team player and go-getter, with a passion for learning and academia
