Introduction:

JAIS:

Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 2001, the Jerusalem American International school is a branch of The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS). It is a MSA accredited, fully independent, co-educational Pre-K - 8 international school offering an American program in an International setting.

JAIS is situated in a residential area of Jerusalem in the Goldstien youth village. We have renovated classrooms and a new yard as well as having access to communal facilities such as the swimming pool and gym.

JAIS is a small and warm school where every student is included, valued and set up to thrive.

Job Capacity: 100%

Start Date: August 10th 2023 or as soon after

The successful candidate will have:

  • Fluency in English
  • A teacher license/ certification applicable to Special Education
  • Able to work on all aspects of an IEP
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Elementary teacher for a similar age group.
  • Experience and success in planning, teaching, assessing students and moving them along their trajectory.
  • Experience and success in being an Inclusion teacher with all the necessary communications with students, parents and coworkers
  • Able to cascade practice in differentiation and inclusion within the mainstream classroom and in smaller groupings.
  • Understanding of the dynamics and interplay between additional learning needs and English as an Additional language needs, in the International school setting.
  • Innovative and engaging educator
  • Team player with excellent communication skills in person and in all media
  • High professional standards in his/ her work ethic and interactions
  • Enthusiasm and passion for teaching and learning
  • Commitment to the mission of the Jerusalem American International School
  • Ability to teach phonics, reading, writing, “reading recovery”, math and social skills to Elementary learners, at all levels.
  • Ability to manage groups of diverse learners
  • Ability to recognize and support the educational and emotional needs of the students
  • Ability to model and teach communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Added advantage: being able to coordinate aspects of the Inclusion Department
