I was in the first class years ago. We were a large group and Rabbi Perlmutter gave us the option of going faster through the information needed for the smicha test of Harav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg z'l or at a slower pace but really learn everything from the Gemora, Shulchan Aruch and Mishnah Brura. I was happy when we voted to take our time so that we will really learn all the information. It took a while but in the end, everyone who took the test received their smicha. Although I am not a practicing Rabbi, I felt that it was a lesson for my children and grandchildren, that even when you're older you can accomplish and set aside the time needed to learn Torah.
