The Anglican International School, Jerusalem (AISJ) is seeking to appoint an experienced, highly qualified educator with a passion for life-long learning as Academic and University Advisor for the Secondary School from August 2022. The Academic and University Advisor will be asked to work closely with secondary students aged 11 to 18. The post will suit a candidate with energy, personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work closely within a team, as well as fostering good relationships within a diverse community. The successful applicant will have the ability to work collegially within the Secondary School Curriculum team, under the guidance of the Head of Secondary.

AISJ is accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA) and is an IB World School delivering the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programs. AISJ is a well-established and progressive international school in the heart of Jerusalem, catering for students aged two to 18 from the international and local communities. Approximately 75% of our student body comes from an international background, with the remaining 25% comprising local Jewish, Muslim and Christian students.

The post offers the opportunity to live and work at the epicentre of world politics and religion, in a city that is vibrant, diverse and enriched by many different cultures and faiths.

The successful applicants will meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (education, school counselling, administration, etc)
  • a demonstrated capacity to provide educational leadership and manage change.
  • a sound understanding of secondary curricula, preferably the IB Diploma and Middle Years programs.
  • an ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents in a multicultural and frequently demanding environment, with a sensitivity to local cultural needs.
  • experience in secondary and post-secondary academic counselling.
  • ability to provide guidance on post-secondary selections and career needs.
  • a proficiency in organizing, interpreting and disseminating academic records.

AISJ will expect the applicant to commit to a minimum of two years, as per local working visa requirements, with a yearly renewable contract in the first instance. Salary rates are commensurate with Israeli pay-scales.

For full details of the post, please visit the school website, www.aisj.co.il, or contact Mrs Pauline Franks, at [email protected]. All applicants for the post should submit a completed AISJ job application form (which can be found on the school website), as well as an up-to-date CV.

Closing date for applications: Friday March 25th 2022.
