I'm a Licensed Israeli Tour Guide with a lot of knowledge and passion for the country,as well as a native English speaker. If you are planing a trip to Israel or already live in this beautiful country, let me show you around to the major sites as well as to off the beaten path gems. I specialize in both small and large groups, feel free to contact me.
I spend part of every November in Israel. This year I had friends join me and wanted to have a guide show us around, instead of just me taking them to various locations. I contracted with Avi Margolin to be our guide. He was knowledgeable of both the history of Israel and the current political landscape. He is available for a myriad of tours, historical, nature, tours geared to children and families. On our initial day we spent from 8:30 to 5 in the Old City. The conversation never stopped, with interesting exchanges. To let you know how devoted a guide he is, his wife had just given birth 36 hours before our tour, but he met us as planned. If you want a guide who has a grasp of Israel from the past to the present, who is articulate, passionate, and sensitive Avi will not disappoint you. You will take home memories, new information and a great respect for this citizen of Israel.
We were referred to Avi by friends of ours that had used him as their tour guide earlier in the year. We also had glowing references about other guides (frankly, those other guides were far more expensive than Avi). We are so glad that we chose Avi. I had not been to Israel for more than 32 years and never got to see much of the land in my previous visit. Avi's knowledge of Israel's history, the archeology and how it all tied in through the bible was incredible. He definitely knows the land, it's people, including people of all cultures that make of the country's population. There is no aspect of the country-- historical or contemporary-- that Avi is not well versed in. In addition, he took us to places that were rarely on people's to-do list when visiting the country. He also was a lot of fun to be with in the 5 days we toured with him. When we come back, and we will, there is more of Israel that we want to see and there is no question it will be with Avi. We want the best and that is Avi.
My wife and I decided to visit Israel for the 1st time in 2011, and we left 2 weeks later. Avi fortunately was available, and gave us an exceptional "off the beaten path" tour as well as a great perspective on all of the places we visited. I would not hesitate to have him guide us next time in Israel.
Avi Margolin was the best! American born, but now an Israeli citizen, served in the IDF, lived in Israel for years and completely fluent in Hebrew and English. Avi knows Israel, its sites and its history like a historian and archeologist.Avi was very respectful of what we already knew and where we wanted to go, but at each turn, he embellished our experience taught us things and brought us up to date.He was incredibly patient, did all the driving (what a pleasure!) and answered every single question that was put to him, and there were many. He negotiated for us, translated, took us to obscure places. He is the best of both worlds: American, but deeply in love with Israel and incredibly knowledgeable about it.
I can't recommend Avi highly enough! We used Avi's services when my family was visiting from the States and Avi brought us to the most interesting and little known places, and I've lived in Israel most of my life... Avi is wonderful!!!
I have taken tours led by Avi in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, near Beit Schemes and Gush Etzion. All of the tours were excellent. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Israel. I highly recommend him as a tour guide.
