Under the supervision of the Director, the Kitchen Manager is responsible for the oversight of the kitchen. They shall be expected to meet all food safety requirements, maintain a clean work environment, ensure kosher standards are being met and guide the overall flow of the kitchen. The Kitchen Manager is expected to present themselves with integrity, act as a personal example in and outside of camp, and is committed to upholding the mission/vision of Camp Young Judaea Midwest.


Responsibilities | The Kitchen Manager is responsible for…

  • Implementing the menu: this is to include three meals a day and two snacks
  • Oversee all culinary staff
  • Schedule staff according to the needs of the camp
  • Communicating proactively with camp leadership on key matters
  • Maintaining food inventory levels
  • Coach a successful culinary team
  • Assist your staff with problems and questions, and support their needs
  • Coordinate with camper care to ensure all dietary needs are being met
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications | The ideal candidate is/has…

  • Two years culinary experience
  • Adaptable and able to problem-solve
  • Ability to give & take constructive criticism
  • Team mentality
  • A self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, manage, and counsel staff to maximize their skills
  • A team player, and recognizes the importance of group success
