Academic Studies Press is looking for an Acquisitions Editor to lead its list of award-winning Slavic studies titles.
Responsibilities include:
- Acquiring new manuscripts in all fields of Slavic studies, starting from our existing series
- developing new series based on market research in the field, within the humanities and social sciences
- Preparing P&Ls and ensuring financial viability of projects
- Following all pre-production stages of contracted books, from contract signature to production, ensuring timelines are kept, working closely with the editorial team and other teams within the company
- Assessing submitted manuscripts for quality and arranging their peer review, liaising with series editors (where relevant)
- Applying for grant programs
- Representing the press at events and conferences in person and online
Requirements:
- Experience in academic and/or publishing field
- Experience working in an international setting (English-speaking)
- A relevant degree in the humanities or social sciences (PhD an advantage)
- Native-level written and spoken English
- Business acumen and experience inassessing financial viability
- Comfortable working under pressure, meeting strict deadlines and targets
