Authorities arrested Jihad Zrikat, a resident of Kafr Kanna near Nazareth.
Israeli security forces have thwarted a planned car-ramming attack against IDF soldiers, arresting a suspect affiliated with the Hamas terrorist group, officials said on Thursday.
In a joint operation conducted by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Central Unit of the Israel Police's Northern District, authorities arrested Jihad Zrikat, a resident of Kafr Kanna, northeast of Nazareth, in February on suspicion of security-related offenses.
During his arrest, investigators found handwritten wills, Hamas-affiliated literature detailing methods for carrying out attacks, and additional nationalist materials. According to the findings of the investigation, Zrikat had resolved to commit a car-ramming attack against Israeli soldiers and had actively attempted to carry out his plan.
The Northern District Prosecutor’s Office is set to file an indictment against him on Thursday.
Israeli security agencies underscored the gravity of Israeli citizens’ involvement in acts that endanger national security, vowing to take firm action against those engaged in such activities.
