ADVANCED REVIEWS
“Rabbi Joshua Gerstein’s “A People, A Country, A Heritage” – Volume Two is a uniquely informative and inspiring work of original analysis arranged according to the weekly Torah Portion. Based upon a wide variety of Rabbinic, medieval and modern sources, the author tackles a vast array of legal and philosophical topics in a lucid and captivating tapestry. Furthermore Rabbi Gerstein strongly emphasizes issues pertaining to the Land and modern State of Israel. This transforms the book from just “another Parsha book” to one which can rightly be referred to as “Torat Eretz Yisrael” (Torah of the Land of Israel), and thus it of special significance to the English speaking Torah public. Rabbi Gerstein is to be commended for a novel contribution to English Torah literature. May he be blessed to continue to spread his Torah orally and in print.”
Rabbi Dr. Zvi Leshem, Director, the Gershom Scholem Collection for Kabbalah and Hasidism at the National Library of Israel, Jerusalem
The second volume of "A People, A Country, A Heritage" composed by Rav Yehoshua Gerstein, completes the last three of the five books of the Torah. Through his brilliant insights Rav Gerstein projects a vital message to the Jewish people - that we are unique within the world's communities: we are a family, a religion bonded with a common God-given heritage presented to us at Mount Sinai, and echoing to this day. Rav Gerstein still has much to give to our generation regarding the contemporary challenges that face the Jewish people. May HaShem give him strength and clarity of mind to continue to influence many Jews to appreciate their heritage and take part in the great adventure called God's chosen people.

“To bridge the often-great divide between Israel’s ancient treasure and modern life, the author has skillfully produced a work which reveals in each Torah portion a profound message urgently needed in today’s society.”
