Shavua tov.
I am pleased to announce the next Movie Matinee at Beit Knesset Hanassi. On Tuesday, November 19 we will present the multi-award winning, highly acclaimed Israeli film BABA JOON.
“We can often do more for others by trying to correct our own faults than by trying to correct theirs.”
This deeply moving family drama is set in an Iranian olim moshav in the Negev. It provides brilliant acting and a compelling look at a segment of Israeli society not often depicted or examined. BABA JOON was Israel’s submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2015 Academy Awards. It was named the Best Film of 2015 by the Israeli Film Academy. The movie has won other awards as well.
BABA JOON is Israel's first-ever Persian-language film. It is a truly superb, gripping movie.
The Movie Matinee is at 2:00. The film is 1½ hours in length. In addition, there will be a brief introduction of the film, a short talk and discussion after the screening. There will be an essay about the movie provided to attendees. The film is in Farsi and Hebrew with English subtitles.
There will be refreshments. No reservations are required. Beit Knesset Hanassi is located at 24 Ussishkin Street. The admission is 20 shekels for members of the shul and 30 shekels for non-members.
