WBAIS and Israel:
Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 1958, The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS) is a MSA accredited, fully independent, co-educational Pre-K - 12 international school offering an American program leading to a US high school diploma.
With a present enrollment of approximately 600 students representing over 40 nationalities, AIS Israel is a diverse and vibrant community. Approximately 40% of AIS students are American, 40% from countries all over the world, and 20% Israelis.
In 2007 WBAIS moved to its current state-of-the-art 19-acre campus and is located in the town of Even Yehuda, a residential community approximately 20 kilometers north of Tel Aviv. The purpose-built campus includes four separate divisions, a performing arts building with a 400-seat auditorium, full gym, a cafeteria, a library and media center, athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, and an Olympic-sized pool.
POSITION OBJECTIVE(S): Physical Education (PE) Elementary Teacher (with children from Kindergarten through Grade 4)
PE Teachers collaborate with other Elementary staff to create a rich and responsive learning environment, and meet the individual needs of students in line with our school’s mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Guide practice according to the WBAIS Mission, Vision & Profile of a Learner.
- Build meaningful relationships and interact with children in a warm and respectful manner that instills joy in learning and nurtures critical thinking, independence and a positive self-concept.
- Participate in faculty meetings and in ongoing professional development. Take initiative to seek out opportunities to build on knowledge.
- Collaborate with other Elementary staff in the implementation of a child-centered program, including preparation, organization, and supervision of stimulating learning experiences that support the holistic development of all students.
- Design a comprehensive and balanced array of activities that meet the student’s needs in fostering their affective, physical, and cognitive development.
- Provide students the knowledge and skills to become physically literate individuals who have the confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.
- Assess students’ development of Physical Education competencies and learning & development of personal fitness and social and life skills.
- Teach collaborative games that incorporate team-building, good sportsmanship and cooperation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, in addition to the following:
- BA (MA preferred) in Physical Education.
- A minimum of 2 years proven track record in teaching PE to Elementary school-age students and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice.
- Prior experience working in international school settings.
- Fluency in English language as the language of instruction

- Effectively monitor student work with timely and meaningful feedback, modifying goals and strategies as needed;
- Employ technology (computers, video, telecommunications, etc.) as appropriate to enhance instruction;
- Promote a positive relationship with others, sharing ideas, materials, experiences and expertise;
- Participate in peer coaching and other instructional improvement programs;
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development both during the school year and during off-school months as needed;
- Support school-wide projects such as student activities, staff development, and community efforts and events.
