Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, Ichilov Hospital to open vaccination center in Rabin Square

Tel Aviv-Yafo, December 27 - Due to high demand, Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov Hospital) will establish a vaccination center in Rabin Square.

Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and Ichilov Hospital will open a huge vaccination center in Rabin Square. The center will include a vaccination tent with 20 vaccination booths, operated by the hospital's nursing staff.

Initially, the center will open to Tel Aviv-Yafo residents aged 60 or above, and later to all Israeli citizens.

Work to establish the vaccination center has begun and it is expected to open next Monday (January 4, 2021) and operate for several months. The center will operate Sunday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

At first, the center expects to vaccinate approximately 5,000 people per day, and increase its scope in due course. Vaccinations will be administered according to guidelines decided by the Ministry of Health. Opening the center on Saturday will be considered at a later date.

Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality has operated a COVID-19 testing site at Rabin Square for several months in partnership with IDF Home Front Command, providing over 1,500 tests per day. The testing site is expected to continue operations alongside the vaccination center.

Ron Huldai, Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo: "Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis, the municipality has been mobilized to protect the health of residents and to maintain a routine alongside the coronavirus. We established a municipal COVID-19 command center, an epidemiological investigation center with over 100 investigators, mobile testing sites in neighborhoods, and now a huge vaccination center in partnership with Ichilov. We will continue to stand at the forefront of the fight, for the benefit of the city's residents and for all of the country's citizens."

Prof. Ronni Gamzu, CEO of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center: "With entry into a third lockdown, it is clear to us all that our main goal now is only to deal with mass vaccinations for COVID-19 and to vaccinate as many citizens as possible. Ichilov Hospital has been undertaking this huge operation for a week and is proving to have great capabilities, and now thanks to the devotion of Mayor Ron Huldai - who immediately enlisted for the cause - we will start vaccinating the masses non-stop, thousands of individuals every day in the huge site that we are setting up with the municipality and all for one purpose - to finally eradicate COVID-19."

An appointment scheduling system is currently being developed and details will be published at a later date.
